AIRpod by MDI: An Urban Car Powered by Compressed Air
Posted in Car, automobile on 15 October 2008

It is hard to classify something as ‘strange’ or ‘weird’ in this time and age as everything that we feel is odd at one moment becomes the mundane the very next day. AIRpod is a pretty strange concept when you look at it from a distance, but as you get closer to the intricacies of this cool emission-free car, you will understand the utility of this modern commuter. Most urban commuters do not need to travel long and fast. That is why this car from MDI has a maximum speed of just 40 mph and has a range of around 130 miles. But there is a lot more to the AIRpod than that.

Sneak Peak: An Early Teaser at Gordon Murray’s T.25
Posted in Car, Occasion on 15 October 2008

Gordon Murray has been involved in the past in some pretty high profile projects and one would generally expect something very similar from the man. His past projects include the McLaren F1 and the Rocket and they are very different from what he has chalked up next. The T.25 is going to be the twenty fifth project from the creator of cars and this time he has apparently created a city commuter that is small, compact and easy to ship. The car is all set to be unveiled soon but as usual we could not wait for the gala night. So we had to peek in a get a look, even if it was with the covers still on.

Red Hot Hyundai Genesis Coupe to Sizzle with HKS Touch at SEMA
Posted in Car, Hyundai, auto, automobile on 3 September 2008

If you love the big red cars which are going to tear through the wind with blurring speed and not just turn heads but keep them spinning, then the unveiling of the Genesis Coupe at the New York Auto Show must have been your dream come true… Or something mighty close to that. Unless Ferrari intend to unfurl the veil on their next hot model with retractable roof right in front of your very eyes, it is going to be hard to beat the Hyundai show which now moves on to SEMA.

Las Vegas is the city to unravel the glitz and the glamour, the bling and the oomph and at the SEMA in Vegas this year it will be the Hyundai Genesis Coupe with the HKS modifications that will set the standard for sizzling hot objects.

They say that ‘What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas’ but with the HKS Genesis that is just not going to happen. Hyundai are working with several aftermarket tuners to create special coupes for the tuner show and they just passed along a photo of one of them. This example was created by HKS USA and includes the usual array of body work modifications along with plenty of mechanical upgrades.

Hyundai hasn’t provided details on the engine re-work yet other than noting it’s got an HKS GT Turbo package, so presumably this car will use the 2.0L turbo four-cylinder as its starting point. This will just make the Genesis a lot better than when it first showed up at New York. Hyundai is all set to take this year’s SEMA by a storm and they are doing it in every way possible. For Now the Genesis Coupe and Las Vegas seem to be the perfect match. Hopefully all this will happen at the Caesars Palace!

BMW ZX-6 Sizzles with a Stunning Surreal Look!
Posted in Concept Automobiles, Latest car on 8 August 2008

Designing a concept car is all about amalgamating style with sense and passion with precision to produce not just the best possible result but also a look and feel that defies convention and revamps tradition. The BMW ZX-6 is a concept car that has all these features and more making it almost unsuitable for the world in its present state. The metallic look, sensationally styled finish and the sheer functionality of the form makes you wonder where tomorrow of the automobile world will take you.

Designed by 3rd year students of Transportation Design School at Turin Based IED, the Zx-6 is billed as the BMW for the year 2015, though it is highly unlikely that it will make it to the roads even then. It is almost destined to fly in the sky with grace and poise. The concept is focused keeping in mind the modern needs, tastes and life style of an individual. All the cars designed in this project looks like toy cars. This might well be a toy if the big boys of the auto world choose to keep their feet more grounded and look around only for conventional designs.

The BMW ZX-6 is all about travelling into a future that hopefully will lead us to brighter and safer roads and maybe even make them obsolete. This Concept Car though pretty much makes the current cars obsolete for now!
